Detboi
Commonly regarded as the most loyal and longstanding act on the Cheap Thrills roster, it is our pleasure to bring Detboi all the way from Dublin for
Since his first EP dropped In 2008 (‘Hold Up’) Detboi has gained praise from the major players of the scene including Hervé, Sinden, Annie Mac and Crookers and in 2008 Detboi released an EP on Skint Records, the widely acclaimed ‘Come Rest Up / Jump Up & Down’ EP, appearing on the Count & Sinden Essential mix and Tommie Sunshines ‘Relax, This Won't Hurt’ mix series. Detboi also contributed to Hervé’s 'Machines Dont Care' collaboration project producing with Hervé, Sinden and Trevor Loveys. After an incredible tour of Japan, which saw Detboi play 4 cities in 5 nights, he came back refreshed and inspired to complete his first long player which Cheap Thrills have called a ‘mega EP’. It sees Detboi step up his productions another level and join the major players. Ranging from the tweaking ‘Dem Dem’ which Major Lazor would be proud of; to the Fatboy Slim approved joyous disco of ‘Rainbows’; this is as good a collection of dance tracks anyone will release in 2010. Detboi, take a bow.

Our first foray into the weekend, and their can be no better place to do it than the world famous Sub Club. All we need now it some high quality guests ;-)
No problem. here's what we have for you.
Reset!
Ever since the promo for their remix of Count & Sinden landed in our inbox last year we have been HOOKED on Reset!. Their refreshing take on the ubiquitous wobble bass sound has been music to our ears and it comes as no surprise that they have recently signed to Herve's Cheap Thrills label. Expect big things from these guys and it's an honour for us to bring you their Scottish debut.
Wafa
Originally hailing from Norwich, reborn in a dingy studio in West London, WAFA wonky bangers for kids to dance to. Influenced by Sony Playstation, pink wafers, V-Drums and Toddla T’s DJ sets and mentored by underground heroes Landslide and Seiji, WAFA has spent the last year honing his unique turbo sound. Having first met Sinden when they both DJ’d at Basement Jaxx’s Inside Out parties in Brixton, he sent him some tracks for feedback and was instantly signed up to make an EP for the Grizzly imprint which has seen recent releases from Brodinski and SBTRKT, the latter partnering up with Sinden himself. Big tings expected in the 2010, for both WAFA and Grizzly. You’ve been told.
Euan Neilson.
Killer Kitsch head honcho will be warming up the decks for the main event before joining you all for the carnage on the dancefloor.

Grum (Heartbeats)
3rd in line for a Killer Kitsch appearance is Scottish born and bred artist Grum (Graeme Shepherd). Grum rose to our attention when he was featured on the Aeroplane Mixmag CD way back on April 09'. Since then he has released 3 more singles, played at Killer Kitsch in Edinburgh, and last month seen the release of his debut album 'Heartbeats', you may have also seen the massive 'Choose Grum' posters around the city. We could go on, but if you want a a good overview of his work check the links below, there is also a great mix of all of his remixes.....
Via Nassa (Synth)
Warming the decks up for Grum is local boy Via Nassa (Colin Brownbill) although you may have know him as Shapes! up until last week. Colin was actually the first person to book Grum in Glasgow, so he seemed the perfect person to join us for this. Since then he has been putting on his SYNTH nights all over Glasgow, hosting his show of the same name on Sub City Radio, which is the most professional show on the station, and he even bagged a trip to Rockness when he won competition to DJ in the Strongbow Tent......something we didnt mange.

Our second guests for this year could not have been timed any better, what with their track being the most talked about track in clubbing circles for a while. So we are delighted to welcome all the way from Australia………Yolanda Be Cool
Their tune 'We Speak No Americano' (a collaboration with label mate DCUP) has for the past few months slowly been ingraining itself on people's minds, so when the chance to bring them to Glasgow came up we jumped at it.

Now that the dust has settled and i have calmed down i just thought i would write a wee bit about why the street bit of our party got cancelled last week.
We had planned the party as early as last year, The Buff has held events outside at Hogmany every year so we anticipated no problems, the only possible one being that it was a Tuesday. To plan event like this you have to do many things, we had to write a proposal for the event explaining every last detail, there was lots of health and safety stuff, we had to submit a licence proposal to sell drink outside and we had to get the road closed as well (more on that later). We submitted everything 3 months before the event, about a month before the event we started phoning round all the different departments, and usually here you get an early indication of any problems, and if there is any you can restructure your proposal. We got no indication of any problems
About 2 weeks before we paid to get the road closed, phoned round the departments again, and once again no problems. The Thursday before before the event the Licence board phoned the manager of The Buff and said everything was fine and he would see us on Tuesday. That was it we thought....
Then i got the dreaded phone call at 10.45pm on Monday night saying that it had been refused. We eventually found out that it was refused because you cant have drink outside after 10pm and there is no late licences during the week. Due to the lateness of being told this we had no time to alter it. The managers of The Buff were at the council office first thing on Tuesday but had no joy whatsoever. This sadly left us £3000 out of pocket, although we did put the PA to good use by moving it inside, but the money for closing the road does not get refunded.
We hope you enjoyed the night in the end, thats if you got in. the place was full by 11.15pm and we turned away about 500 people or so. We may try and do the event again, i dont know how everyone would feel not being able to drink outside but this is an avenue that we are looking at.

Serato & Ableton - The Bridge
Lots of things get us excited, well me (euan) anyway. None more so than the imminent release of the Ableton/Serato software 'The Bridge'. Being a user of both programs the ability to have them both merged into one is (by the look of the video posted below) a godsend, if a tad expensive. The program itself is free, but looks like i am gonna have to invest in a macbook pro to cope with it all. anyway have a look at the video, sorry for the technical ness of it all but trust me this is gonna make my life even better, and in turn i will play better tunes and you will all enjoy yourself more at any of the Killer Kitsch nights you come to.
