Kattermukke release lots of records as well and maybe up until this week i’d have said they we’re unappreciated as well. But its seems they may be making as markl as one of their tracks is now top of one of the Beatport Top 10′s…

Good to see Grum back in amongst it. This new track is everything you could have wished for, still retaining his disco roots but adding a more housey twist on his previous work.

We love the Correspondant label. Didnt think much of the compilation they put out recently but this EP from Coldgeist kinda re dresses the balance.

This months was meant to be a Scottish dance music themed one but just as i began to piece it together i see that JD Twitch from Optimo is releasing a compilation of current Glasgow based acts and producers (you can read about that HERE so i’ve put that one on the back burner for now until i can find a slightly different angle for it. So i went back to my list of ideas i had at the start of the year and plumped for doing a mix of only Neptunes productions, yeah the fact that Pharrell is working with Daft Punk may have had a tiny bit of deciding factor in why we’ve done this now but in truth I’m a MASSIVE FAN of a lot of their work. Also I’d seen some posts on Facebook from friends slagging off Pharrell’s involvement on the album which kinda got to me a bit, so maybe people just have no idea just how prolific and talented he and Chad Hugo are….

Did you know that at one point almost 50% of records played on American radio we’re produced by the Neptunes ?

There production resume is frankly staggering, i’d even say it was more impressive than Nile Rodgers. So here i’ve brought together 16 of my favourite productions by them. I’ve left of some stuff that you probably already know off , although some was just too hard not to have on here, in fact it was total torture having to cut this down to just 16 tracks.

A few notes on my choice though…..

• The version of “Can I Have It Like That?” is the version from the unreleased album ‘Out Of My Mind’, basically a re recorded version of his ‘In My Mind’ album done with Questlove from The Roots and a live band. Have a search on t’intenet its quite easy to find.
• I could have picked an JT song from ‘Justified’ but you know most of them so i picked this one
• The version of ‘Lapdance’ is from the original release of ‘In Search Of’ released only in Europe before it was pulled and re recorded with the band Spymob and re released.

THE BORING STUFF..

At last we finally have this up on here. In total this mix has taken us 3 days to compile and upload, the last 5 hours of that have been utter torture with all the soundcloud uploading problems, re rendering and then rewriting this.

So anyway…..here is our/my first non themed mix in almost 2 years, we’ve kinda avoided doing mixes with current tracks as these days every tom, dick and harry (styles) is stringing together 16 deep house tracks and uploading it somewhere. BUT…

Seeing as we’ve been lazy, a bit ill, been to a cup final and unable to think of a theme to research for a ‘proper’ podcast (we’re also going on holiday) we elected to try to make a VERY LONG one and maybe that could be our ‘theme’, so we’ve strung together 35 tunes in what we think is a great order, there is a mix of various types of dance music, some thrash metal, some 80′s AOR and a choir.
