Update 27/12/2008
Last Killer Kitsch of 2008
Yeah we are almost at the end of another year. We will look back on 2008 very fondly, we would never claim to be the most original of nights, we didnt really start it to push any musical boundaries or change the world, but we hope you have enjoyed any Killer Kitsch night you have attended, or any of our appearances at any of the festivals or alternate nights we have played at. So we would like to thank you for coming to club and helping making the club as a success as it is (note: please dont use this as an excuse to try and get a record played) . So as a good gesture we would like to offer you a guestlist place for the last Killer Kitsch of 2008, the 30th of December. All you have to do send an email to info@killerkitsch.co.uk with Your Full Name, we will give you a plus 1 so you can bring a friend, all we ask is that you both arrive together. You have until 9pm on the 30th December to get back in touch.

Over to you Dave..
This mix has a kinda americana/folk vibe about. it is also our first mix to feature no dance music. i (like so many others) started listening to a fair bit of americana towards the end of the 90's. Favourite albums at the time for me included deserters songs by mercury rev. nixon by lambchop and knock knock by smog. That style is essentially the back bone for this mix. The rest of it is made up of tracks old and new which i feel fit in.
The majority of these tracks have been played in the first hour at killer kitsch.

Update 1/08/08
Robot Needs Oil 26/08/08
Sadly we are almost at our final guest of the summer, but what a guest we have. Robot Needs Oil will become the first guest we have ever had twice, and if you were there last year when he made his uk debut at the club you will know why. On top of this a Killer Kitsch DJ will be celebrating his birthday the same night......You can download Robot Needs Oil's set from last year on the download page. Apologies for the photo we have of him above, Greg (Robot Needs Oil) is a lot more animated in real life........
Here is a biography we stole from his myspace....
Hailing from Kalwaria Zebrzydowska in Poland, real name Grzegorz Ochman aka Greg Kobe, Robot Needs Oil has found himself touted as one of the next big things in the all conquering European electro scene. Following an almost traditional route to electronic stardom, Mr. Needs Oil began his musical life in the early years of childhood with the tinkling of ivories and strumming of guitar strings. Stints on bands led to parties which in tum led to night clubs. Along the way collecting influences and foraging for inspiration. By the age of 18 he had been truly bitten by the electronic bug and found himself smitten with the sounds of drum & bass, breakbeat, house and first and foremost of techno. Starting life under the “Pharmacy of Sound” moniker, he found himself Djing and performing live across his native Poland alongside techno luminaries such as The Advent. Fast forward to 2007 and you soon realise that progress has most certainly been made. Having released countless 12’s and Eps on over 70 labels worldwide, Greg Kobe has found himself championed by all Pete Tong to JD Twitch all sing his praises and Canadian superstar DJ John Acquaviva personaly endorsing his musical forays by releasing his work on his own Definitive Recordings imprint. Himself a label boss with GK Records bearing the fruits of his labour, it is apparent that he is no slouch. Having already conquered is native Poland, becoming one of the most in demand Djs in the country, he has his sights set on taking us all by storm, Numerous guises, bountiful releases and one goal – dance floor devastation.

Update 5/07/08
Diskjokke (live laptop set) 29th July 2008
Hailing from Oslo, Joachim Dyrdahl (or Diskjokke) is a 28-year-old classically trained violinist who turned to making disco records just a few years ago (much like his countryman and friend Lindstrom who came from a rock & metal background to make to also make disco records). This classical training is put to great effect on his debut album 'Staying In', which was released earlier this year to much critical acclaim. Prior to this he had released 12"s on Prins Thomas' 'Full Pupp' label and Get Physicals' sub-label 'kindish'. He has also remixed tunes for, among others, Lindstrom, Spektrum, Lykke Li and Bloc Party. His appearance at Killer Kitsch will be the first live performance from a guest in the clubs 3 year history, and as such we aim to present it a little bit differently to previous guests.
Iona Beach Party 26th July 2008

We have been very kindly asked to play on the lovely and picturesque island of iona @ the iona beach party. For those of you who dont know, Iona is a tiny island just of the coast of scotland, its quite remote, and getting to it isnt the easiest, but its worth it for the views and (from a drivers perspective) the A85 road to oban & the one track road around Mull, which is driving heaven. Euan is excited to be playing at it, but the drive over is getting him just as excited. To get to Iona, just get to Oban and get the ferry from there to Craignure, which is on the island of Mull. You can then catch the bus from Craignure to Fionnphort (if you are driving take a left when you get off the ferry and follow the single track road round to Fionnphort), where you get to Fionnphort another ferry will take you onto the island of Iona. Directions to the beach party will be sign posted when you get off the ferry. If you fancy coming along drop us an email and we will help you as much as we can...links to the iona beach party website and the cal mac ferry sites are below.
End of the Month Mix June 2008
For this months mix we have something a bit different. We are pleased to be able to give you a mix for the one and only Boom Monk Ben. Ben just incase you dont know is one of the 2 (ginger) Dj's who play downstairs in Killer Kitsch, he's quite busy a lot of the time so getting mix out of him has been a bit hard, but we have finally done it. Now normally we usually just have a mix being 45 mins long and the one style, But thats not Ben's way, so we slackened the rules a little (or he just ignored them) and he has given us this amazing mix. To download the mix just follow the link posted below.

Druzzi (The Rapture) DJ Set

We couldnt really pass up the oportunity to have a member from one our favorite bands to come and dj at the club, so we are delighted to be able to bring Druzzi or you may know him as Gabe from THE RAPTURE. Gabe is the multi instrumentalist within the band playing saxaphone, and all the percussion (its his cowbell you hear on 'House of Jealous Lovers'). He is also, like his cohort in the band Matty B Safer a great DJ as well, originally from Chicago where he created the legendary 'Druzzi's Rave Club of Baltimore' in homage to his love of Baltimore club scene, after upping sticks to New York in 2001 he hooked up with The Rapture and DJing took a back seat for a while. At present he DJ's at the Plant Bar in NYC and the famous Hush Hush Weekender parties he began with Matt B.Safer.
End of the Month Mix May 2008
This months mix its back to Euan to do his thing, or one of his things. this time he has gone for an 'oldschool' kinda vibe. Euan being the oldest of the killer kitsch dj's was actually alive when some of the songs on this mix were released, and word has it that he spent ages trawling through boxes of old 7" and 12" to do this mix.

Forthcoming Guests
SHIR KHAN 3rd JUNE 2008

Ok we have some guests lined up for the next few months. First up we are delighted to bring SHIR KHAN to Glasgow for what we believe is his first appearance in Scotland. We heard about him a wee while back on a blog, where they compared one of his mixtapes to be as good as 2 Many DJ's - as heard on radio soulwax pt2, so naturally we were intrigued, and we werent let down when we heard it either. Since then he has toured all over the world playing with such acts as Simian Mobile Disco, LCD Soundsystem, Digitalism etc. He also has started his own record label EXPLOITED, which has released records by Adam Sky, Siriuismo, has his own radio show on RADIO FRITZ in Germany and has released 'Maximise' one of the best and most interesting mix comps of last year, which gained him Compliation of the Month from Mixmag and IDJ amongst others.
