Any Questions??
Where/When is Killer Kitsch ?
Killer Kitsch is held at The
Buff on Bath Lane every Tuesday. It runs from 11pm til 3am.
Entry is £3 Students, £4 for everybody else. If your
not familiar with Glasgow check the map below and hopefully that will help.
What kind of music do you play ?
Ah the dreaded categorisation , so we wont go there. You
can check out the playlists
page and see if floats you boat, or you could check the flyer for
a rough guide (and we do mean ROUGH) to what goes on. The best idea
is usually just to turn up and see if you like what you hear (and
if you do tell loads of people) .
Who are the Djs:
The Dj’s are David Sinclair & Euan Neilson (although
we’re thinking of calling ourselves Killer Dave & Euan
Kitsch , what do you think?) Downstairs the Dj is Ross McGarvey.
At the beginning we had two other Dj’s, namely Noj & Stevie Element who helped upstairs. We plan to have them back in future,
once we are up on our feet a bit more.
Where did the idea come from ?
It was somewhat a joint effort from both our lovely promoter
Colin & Euan. The easiest way to put it (although not the best) was to have poppier
version of Optimo or a 2 Many Dj’s style night. Playing stuff
like Basement Jaxx etc but adding in Optimo’s genre shifting
diversity. Euan had often been baffled by his friends constant appreances
at Optimo, but lack of dancing, they would usually only dance to
the big tune Alter Ego - Rocker for example, but when they
went to 2ManyDJs they would dance more than him! Thus the penny
dropped. Then a good friend by the name of Amma was having a party and the
opportunity to ‘try out’ the idea in full was accepted.
Cd’s were made up (we only had a multi disc changer, sorry
vinyl junkies) guinea pigs were let into the room and voila! The
results left him in no doubt that his idea was a goer. A Tuesday night was targeted as the night to be, as Tuesday
is (apparently) a big/student night in Glasgow, and it was the only
night the buff club had left (talk about landing on your feet!).
Why do you use Cd's as well as Vinyl ?
Our attitude is that we dont care how you get a song out of the speakers, as long as its good. So you will see us using cd decks quite a lot. Some songs we just cant get on vinyl, and it would seem a shame not to play them because of this. Also vinyl weighs a ton. if we had a pre planned set then we could limit the amount we take.
But we dont pre plan anything, so we like to have as wide a range of tunes as possible, as you just dont know what you might feel like playing at a particular moment, or what a punter might ask for.
Do you take requests ?
Yes we do. Usually we are both in the dj booth, so try and speak to the one who aint standing behind the decks and wearing headphones. We try our best to play as many as possible, and we will endevour to give you as honest an answer as possible. Also if you hear a tune you like and dont have a scooby what it is, feel free to ask us. WE ARE QUITE NICE.
What's with the music in the first hour ?
For the first hour there is quite frankly no point in playing anything danceable....people are just comin in, wanna get settled, have a drink etc. So we try to use the first hour to play stuff we could never play in the middle of the night, so dont be alarmed..we will get the the 'dance stuff' after 12.
